A new survey just published in the April 2010 issue of the "Journal of the New Jersey Dental Association" concluded that providing continuing education to your general dentists increases your periodontal practice's profitability. This survey reinforces the findings of an earlier study performed in England and published in J Clin. Periodontal 1999 26:590-595.

2009 and 2010 may see the death of some periodontal implant practices throughout the country. With the economy in shambles, consumers are simply cutting back on discretionary services and high price tag items – perio and implants are no exception. Some practices may just not be able to withstand the financial crisis caused by the recession and the competition and mass marketing of Clear Choice and other discount mega dental implant centers.
Recessions, though not as severe as the one we are currently in, have happened in the past and many periodontal implant practices have held tight, lost profits but recovered on the other side.
